Carol I was born in Madison, WI to hardworking parents Norm and Ellen. I was Lucky # 13 out of 14 kids. Lucky #13, I always say because I know Mom and Dad could have stopped at 12. I am happy to be here.

Dad was a
Police Sergeant in Madison and he liked country music. Anywhere I went with him I knew I would be listening to country. Mom would sing and dance around to show tunes while doing housework. I danced with my Mother many times in the kitchen while doing dishes.

I have many talented siblings that play instruments and have vast music libraries. As a family we listened to music together all the time and sang together at almost every gathering. We still do, though get togethers are fewer and far between. I wanted music playing all the time and use to fall asleep with the radio on at night. That was actually a hard habit to break.

As a young girl I loved going to the Roller Rink so I could skate around to the current hits. I use to watch the DJ back then and think that would be such a fun job. Listening to music, getting paid for it and watching people having fun. I paid attention.

My brothers DJ’d for family and friends while I was growing up and I learned a lot from them. I watched them read the dance floor, listen to people and take requests. They have great personalities and are so funny, they were naturals. Jim went on to play banjo for a Blue Grass band.  I wanted to be like them.

Around 17 I met my husband Karl. He was
playing bass guitar in a band with my cousin and singing back-up. I fell so hard for him. After some effort on my part, he finally fell in love with me too. I didn’t know it then but I had fallen in love with someone who would turn out to be a wonderful father to our children and a loyal, hardworking, responsible, wonderful man. You can’t know that when your young and shooting from the heart but once again I got lucky. He also shared my love of music. We are a great team! All you brides who have tried on that perfect dress and it sang to you, this is the one! That is how I felt about Karl, he was a perfect fit, he sang to me.

I was one of those young brides
married by 20 and traveling around the world with my husband and young family. Back then Karl worked for AT&T International Division and we had stays in Beijing, China and London, England. We had 3 children in a short period of time. Christina was born in 1986, Rebecca in 1988 and Jimmy Jam in 1990. We decided to stay put to raise our children in one place. That place turned out to be Allen, TX.

I continued the tradition and sang and danced with my children. They are all big music lovers too. While in Texas I decorated
Wedding cakes and all occasion cakes. That was a very creative and enjoyable time in my life. My kids and Karl helped me a lot with that business. Then Karl took a job up here in Minnesota. We had wanted to come back to the Midwest, we missed the seasons and wanted to be closer to Madison, Wi for family functions, (that drive from Texas was a chore).

Transplanting the children was not that easy. They missed their friends. We kept in touch and we all visited each other and eventually the kids made new friends and felt more at home in Minnesota.
Now that we were in Minnesota I played with the idea of starting a cake business again. Karl had another idea. He had wanted to get back into music and wanted me to be his partner. Karl has made many dreams come true for me and this was another such time. He wanted to start our own company and DJ special events but mostly weddings. This seemed like my dream job.

I won’t lie to you, starting up was very, very hard. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes and any thoughts I had of this being an easy job soon flew out the window. The positives so outweigh any negatives I learned to love my work. Working with Brides and Grooms feels like home. The best reward is the happy client that comes up at the end of a show and says you surpassed their expectations and they are so happy and glad they hired you. I was proud of my cakes but getting to be at the events and watching and participating in the fun is so much better.

We are now into our 8th year of business and growing stronger every day. We continue to learn new things, go to workshops, seminars, conferences, anything to keep on top of things. We want to be the best DJ’s possible.

As a child I felt lucky to be born, now I can add joy, wonder, and appreciation for all the experiences in my life and still so happy to be here.!
