Reflecting on 2007 - Our best year yet!

Hello Everyone,

I have been thinking about 2007, reviewing it in my mind. I am very happy with how things went for Collective Sound. Not only did we work almost every weekend but we made some important improvements. We joined MAPDJ, we bought the new Bose speakers, we improved the website, we joined Toastmasters to help be the best public speakers we can be and much, much  more. We fine tuned a lot of what we already did well like transitions, interactive activities,  special dances etc... I like the new typing of the outline for final review and approval from client. I think it has simplified things.

We have plans to attend workshops and dance lessons this year. One of the workshops is really going to impress our Brides and Grooms and I will write a separate blog on that soon.

The dancing will be something I can share with the guests. I hope to be able to show some basic swing moves, maybe some salsa, ball room along with the line dances we already teach. I am not a dance teacher but I would be happy to teach a few steps if it will get even more people on the dance floor.

I was also thinking about the prerecorded messages. I love the idea of putting special messages in a first dance song or even playing the first dance song again at the end of the evening with special messages in it that the Bride and Groom would be hearing for the first time. I also like the idea of a short intro for the Father/Daughter dance and Mother/Son. I like the idea of either telling how the father feels or saying a little about him on the mic and then inviting them out to celebrate the Father/Daughter Dance or having the father prerecord a message in their song. Same for the Mother/Son Dance. I like the element of surprise. I think Bride/Groom and guests will all be touched by the gesture. I also like the idea of putting a message in a song for the Bride and Groom from someone who could not be at the wedding. For example, someone in the military, someone who has a medical condition making it so they cannot travel etc.... We can record a message from them. Parents and Wedding Parties can really  help with this idea.

Another goal for 2008 is to communicate more with friends and family prewedding to get good ideas to surprise/assist the Bride and Groom, for example with a message from someone, a special song from childhood, a funny story, anything to touch their hearts. The wedding party could get together and make a special recording over a song for them as well. The possibilities are endless.

We have been creating and performing some very spectacular Grand Entrances. I know that will continue in 08. We have a lot of fun with these. Some people are doing themes others are picking snipets of songs, a different one for each person in the wedding party to showcase their personalities. It has been a lot of fun and I will continue to find new and creative ways to introduce people.

I have a new years resolution to be the best listener I can be. I want to see the Clients vision of their event clearly. I want the client to feel like I am definitely on board and on the same page with what they think needs to happen to make the event the best it can be.  Like Aerosmith  said/sang "I don't want to miss a thing". I am also giving up soda pop. Wish me luck!

Have a great year everyone!

Special note to clients-Thanks so much for your business, Collective Sound could not exist without you! Thanks for all the referrals, we won't let you down!
